Good to visit The Ash again, thank you for an excellent Lunch

We have lived in Stansted for 25 years and this is our go to place for special occasions. We haven’t been out much since lockdown, and the last time we booked here was March 2020 (cancelled due to Covid-10 lockdown). I loved my fish and chips with mushy peas, and the bottle of wine. A bit of a shock with the taxi price though, as residents of Stansted we should not have to pay a tourist price, and this did dampen my spirits. Hopefully this will be rectified with Tommy when we get the chance.

The building is very cosy. We sat in the restaurant area and noticed that the room is decorated with model airplanes. I had a hot dog (would recommend) and the sausage was cooked perfectly. My parents’ food was cooked perfectly too. The dessert was great. They didn’t have brownies or malteaser cheesecake. I only have one complaint: the hand drier scared the living daylights out of me! 🙂

Good, old fashioned English food & plenty of it. I couldn’t get through mine & took half away with me. Large range of choices & very pleasant surroundings. Excellent service. Certainly worth return visits.

We stopped on the way to Stansted, food was lovely and large portions.
